ANN ARBOR (WWJ) – New University of Michigan research shows some parents are making the effort to limit media exposure for preschool age kids.

The results of this new poll find most parents are doing something to limit screen time, but about 25 percent of parents with kids ages two to five say their children get three or more hours of entertainment screen time a day.

That’s well beyond the recommended limits of two hours a day, according to Dr. Matthew Davis.

“We’re going to need to encourage those parents to try some of these other strategies that other parents are using and also focus on the content of the hours of screen time and not just the quantity,” said Davis.

Dr. Davis says some parents report successfully limiting screen time by making media devices off-limits at the dinner table or in kid’s bedrooms.
