Charity Hosts "Derby" Luncheon And Fundraiser
DEARBORN (WWJ) - Ladies... and fellas, for that matter, too... here's an opportunity to get dressed up in your Kentucky Derby finest, for a good cause, this weekend.
The American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA) is hosting its 14th Annual Derby Luncheon and Silent Auction Fundraiser at the Henry Hotel in Dearborn.
"That means we'll have a lot of hats and a lot of outfits. We have some regulars that come to our events and they come in their finest. And every year we judge ensembles and hats and so forth, and people will win prizes for what they actually wear," says event coordinator Donna DiSante.
DiSante adds, "We always award prizes to the people with the best outfits or hats. We are encouraging people to dress up and come in their derby duds. Wear a fancy hat, their gloves and jewelry; and some people even come in vintage-type outfits, which is always fun."
The vocal trio Satin Dolls will perform hits from the 1940s and '50s.
