Man Found Shot To Death Outside School Administration Building

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police in northwest Detroit are investigating after a man was found shot to death outside of a school administration building.

The situation unfolded around 1 a.m. Wednesday at the Head Start administrative offices on 7 Mile Road,  just west of Livernois Avenue.

Police arrived on the scene after receiving a 911 call and found the man's body slumped over on the front porch of the building.

A man who only wanted to be identified as Mike said he was the one who called police after discovering the body.

"I said 'I'm about to call EMS if you don't respond' and I said 'If you've got anything illegal on you, you may go to jail. Would you at least put your hand up? Excuse me,' but no response," he said.

Officers canvassed the neighborhood to see if anyone noticed anything suspicious overnight, although several residents told WWJ's Mike Campbell they did not hear any gunshots.

Crime scene investigators collecting evidence apparently found multiple bullet holes in the building.

Other circumstances, including the victim's identity, were not immediately known.

An investigation is ongoing.
