As you probably remember, Tigers 2nd baseman Ian Kinsler had some interesting comments before the 2014 season started. “I hope they go 0-162,” Kinsler told ESPN The Magazine speaking of the Rangers after he was traded in the offseason. “I got friends, and I love my friends, but I hope they lose their ass.” Kinsler also called Rangers General Manage Jon Daniels a “sleaze ball” and blamed Daniels for pushing Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan out the door.

On Thursday morning, Kinsler sat down with both the Detroit and Texas media and joked about engaging in some trash talk with Ranger players about this four game series. “I still stay in touch with some of them” Kinsler said referring to his former teammates. Kinsler exchanged text messages with Texas 3rd baseman Adrian Beltre before the game saying “Everybody knows Adrian likes to talk trash.”

So since Kinsler was already on the subject, I decided to ask him about the infamous quote. Did he receive any flak from anybody on his former team about the comment?

Listen below to hear his response…

Did you originally think his comments were funny or bitter?
