Ever Been On A Bad Blind Date? You'll Relate To "Blended"

DETROIT (WWJ) – Anyone who's ever been on a blind date that didn't exactly go as they'd hoped it would will be able to relate to the blind date that Lauren (Drew Barrymore) and Jim (Adam Sandler), both single parents, go on in "Blended." The two hit it off like fire and ice: they just don't mix well. So after a date that ends with neither of them wanting to see the other again, how do they end up at a luxurious resort in South Africa?  Let's just say it wasn't planned.

"Blended" marks the third time that co-stars Barrymore and Sandler unite on the big screen. Previously, they starred together in the romantic comedies "The Wedding Singer" and "50 First Dates," both box office hits. With "Blended," history is primed to repeat itself. That's because "Blended" is hip, it's funny and with an estimated one-third* of all weddings in America today forming stepfamilies, it's a topic that's completely relatable.

"Blended" gets the laughter started early and keeps it coming. Terry Crews is hilarious as the leader of the resort's singing group, "Thathoo." Even with his growing list of movie credits, "Blended" shows a side of Crews that audiences haven't seen before. And just wait til you see those abs; not to mention his pecs, biceps, and well, just about everything else.

Along with Crews, the young stars who play Lauren's and Jim's children have their share of funny hijinks that also give viewers plenty of opportunities to laugh out loud.

"Blended" is a superb family film that's a wonderful way to kick off the summer movie season.

"Blended" also stars Wendi McLendon-Covey as Lauren's best friend, Jen, and Joel McHale as her ex-husband, Mark. Kevin Nealon and Jessica Lowe star as Eddy and Ginger, an overly romantic couple who are also vacationing at the resort, and Terry Crews stars as the resort's singing host. Dan Patrick (ESPN SportsCenter) appears as Jim's boss, Dick; and Shaquille O'Neal as his coworker, Doug.

Young actresses Bella Thorne, Emma Fuhrmann and Alyvia Alyn Lind star as Jim's daughters. Kyle Red Silverstein and Braxton Beckham appear as Lauren's two sons.

Rated PG-13.
