Traffic Alert: Memorial Day Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Memorial Day weekend is finally here and to make traveling easier, MDOT has lifted traffic restrictions for most construction projects in the state.

From 3 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Tuesday, 80 of the 108 projects statewide will have lane restrictions removed. While construction zones may be closed for the weekend, motorists are advised that equipment and temporary traffic shifts may remain in place.

The following is a list of work zones that will remain active or have lane restrictions during the Memorial Day weekend, along with parade closures:

Wayne County:

I-75 northbound ramp to M-10 (Lodge) northbound remains closed until Monday for emergency repair. Additional ramp and lane closures may also be required.

I-96 is closed in each direction between Newburgh Road and US-24 (Telegraph Road). Also, the I-96 express lanes/ramps are closed between M-39 (Southfield Freeway) and US-24. Schoolcraft Road has one lane open between I-275 to US-24.

M-85 (Fort Street) is closed in each direction between Oakwood Boulevard and Miller Road. One lane is open between Miller Street and Dearborn Street.

M-102 (Eight Mile Road) has two lanes open in each direction between Beech Daly Road and Burt Road.

Macomb County:

M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue) has two lanes open in each direction between 10 Mile Road and 14 Mile Road.

St. Clair County:

I-94/I-69 in Port Huron has the following lane restrictions in effect:
-- One lane open in each direction between Range Road and Lapeer Road.
-- The eastbound I-94 ramps to I-69 and I-69 Business Loop are closed.
-- Michigan Road is closed over I-94/I-69.
-- Lapeer Road has one lane closed in each direction under I-94/I-69.

Monday - Memorial Day Parades (road closures):

Oakland County:

Grand River Avenue closed between Orchard Lake Rd and Gill St. from 9 am to 1 pm.

M-24 (Lapeer Rd) between Broadway and East streets from 9 am to 11 am.

Macomb County:

M-3 partial closure between 9 Mile Road to Wilson Street from 10 am to 2 pm.

M-19 closed between Weber Rd and Bordman Road from 10 am to 11 am.

M19 closed between 32 Mile Rd and 33 Mile Road from 9 am to 11 am.

M-29 partial closure between Clinton and Vine streets from 12 pm to 3 pm.

Wayne County:

US-12 (Michigan Avenue) closed between Oakman Boulevard and Mercury Drive from 7 am to 1 pm.

St. Clair County:

I-94 BL/I-69 Business Loop closed between Griswold St and 10th Avenue from 11 am to 2 pm.

Tuesday - Construction Returns:

Macomb County:

Southbound M-97 (Groesbeck Highway) from 14 Mile to Hayes roads will have single lane closures from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. Friday, May 30 for road work.

Eastbound and westbound I-696 Service Drives between Dequindre Road and M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) will have single lane closures from 9 a.m. Tuesday to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1 for utility work.
