Police Investigate Drowning Of 3-Year-Old Girl In Redford Township

REDFORD TWP. (WWJ) - Police are investigating the drowning of a 3-year-old Redford Township girl over the holiday weekend.

Redford Police Captain James Turner, a call came in at 7:50 p.m. Sunday from a home on the 15000-block of Seminole about a child who was not breathing after she was pulled from a backyard swimming pool.

A Redford Fire Department rescue team performed CPR at the scene, but they were unable to revive the little girl. She was taken to Botsford Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

It was not immediately clear how the child ended up in the pool.  No charges have been filed.

Turner said police are talking with family members as an investigation continues.

The girl’s name was not released.
