Tigers starter Max Scherzer has already accomplished a lot in his career. He made it to the majors, he won a Cy Young award and he’s in line to get one of the richest contracts in baseball history when he becomes a free agent after this season.
And then there was the icing on the cake…
Scherzer was featured in a USA Today Crossword puzzle.
“Mick, (Billmeyer-bullpen coach) as soon as I get here, he goes you made it” Scherzer said. “I go what do you mean I made it? You’re 7 down. Go look at the USA Today; you’re in the crossword puzzle.”
Scherzer was elated to be in the puzzle saying “yeah that was pretty cool to see, not too many times are you in a crossword puzzle, so I thought I would give my opinion on what the answer should be.”
The hint was; Max Scherzer’s Pride? It’s a 3 letter answer. Scherzer knew it right away as he tweeted the following out…
