Police: Radio Shack Robbers Taped Witnesses' Eyes Shut

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Police say a group of robbers with nylons over their faces targeted a Radio Shack in Royal Oak, placing duct tape over the eyes of three witnesses and binding their hands behind their backs.

Police received a 911 call around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday from an employee at the Radio Shack on Woodward Avenue, just north of 12 Mile Road, stating that a robbery had just occurred.

The employee told police that three black men entered the store wearing baseball caps and hoodies, with nylons over their faces.

The suspects then allegedly moved two employees and a customer to a storage room. Once there, the robbers placed duct tape over the witnesses' eyes and taped their hands behind their backs, police said. At least one suspect was armed with a handgun.

Police said the suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash along with approximately 50 cellphones before fleeing in an unknown direction. None of the victims were injured.

A K-9 track, provided by the Troy Police Department, led officers to the area of Woodward Avenue and Benjamin Street. Investigators believe the suspects got into a vehicle in this area and fled the scene.

Anyone with information about this incident or the suspects involved is urged to contact police at 248-246-3456.
