Friday, June 6 is perhaps one of the sweetest days of the year — it’s National Doughnut Day!

National Doughnut Day, held the first Friday of June each year, was originally established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I and raise money for social service ministries during the Depression.

Today, we continue to honor the tradition by celebrating the tasty baked treat in the best way possible — with many businesses giving away FREE doughnuts!

Honor National Doughnut Day by grabbing a free pastry at one (or all) of the following locations:

Krispy Kreme

All you have to do is stop by any local Krispy Kreme store and voilà — free doughnut, no purchase necessary. Click for locations.

Dunkin’ Donuts

Customers will get a free doughnut of their choice with any beverage purchase. Click for locations.

Tim Hortons

Customers will receive a free doughnut with any purchase, but there’s a catch — you have to say “Happy National Doughnut Day” to cash in on this freebie. Click for locations.
