New York ‘Whole Foods’ Strives For Liquor Licence
NEW YORK (WWJ) — Grocery shopping can be a rather mundane activity — but that could be changing soon.
A New York location of Whole Food plans to offer customers cocktails at its in-store tap room, which already serves wine and beer.
“We will eventually utilize it to serve some unique cocktails and fun drinks that pair with our food in the tap room,” Whole Foods spokesman Michael Sinatra said.
According to DNAinfo, the West 59th Street store, which already serves wine and beer at its bar On Tap, won approval from Community Board 4 to serve spirits at the 40-seat venue. The store still needs approval from the State Liquor Authority before the license is official, Sinatra said.
Another Whole Foods location in Brooklyn’s Gowanus community tried to gain its liquor licence, but the local community board rejected the bid.
So far there are no plans for the any of the Detroit area locations to follow suit.
