Amazon Expected To Bring Smart Phone To Market

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBSDetroit.com) - The smart phone market is expected to get more crowded Wednesday as online retailer Amazon is expected make an announcement in Seattle that is releasing its own device.

Various outlets are reporting that the new phone will include a 3-D display, technology which can track a person's eyes across the screen and the ability to tilt the phone to access features and information.

If the rumors are true, this would be the latest foray by Amazon into creating its own products. These include the Amazon Fire TV which provides streaming video services and competes with Apple TV and Google Chrome, and the Kindle line of tablets and e-books.

Some outlets report that the phones, which may compete against those from Apple, Google, Samsung and Microsoft, may ship in September.

A price has not discussed. Follow WWJ-950 and cbsdetroit.com for more information about the announcement and updates about the phone.
