Detroiter Truck Stop Along I-75 Evacuated

WOODHAVEN (WWJ) – A Woodhaven rest stop has been evacuated.

Police are on the on the scene, Monday afternoon,  at the Detroiter Truck Stop at West Road and I-75; and there are reports that officials with the Department of Homeland Security are there as well, although that was not immediately confirmed.

Police talking to WWJ Newsradio 950 said the evacuation was “precautionary,” but could not disclose the reason behind it.

There have been no reports of injuries.

A witness talking to WWJ said that there is a refinery next door, and fire trucks and police are there as well.  The truck stop is host to an IHOP, truck maintenance and wash, as well as motel rooms.
