Man Killed After Police Respond To Domestic Violence Call

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Police confirm that a 54-year-old Sterling Heights man was killed after a confrontation with officers.

Police responded to a call for help regarding a domestic violence situation at a home on Lola street over the weekend.

When police arrived at the home, John Kapeluch was in the home with a gun, along with his wife and 9-year-old child.

When Kapeluch was ordered to drop the gun he aimed toward police, who then fired at Kapeluch, killing him.

The wife and young girl were not injured in the incident and police tell WWJ that the young girl did not witness the shooting.

Police had been to the home on at least two previous occasions but according to police, "it had been a while."
