State Touts Results Of ‘Click It Or Ticket’ Campaign

DETROIT (WWJ) — Anytime, day or night, rain or shine, police officers can issue you a citation for not wearing your seatbelt.

In fact, the state said that recent stepped-up enforcement of seat belt regulations by law enforcement officials here in 40 Michigan counties has led to more than 13,700 traffic stops. Preliminary reports indicate that stops during the “Click It Or Ticket” campaign May 19 to June 2 resulted in more than 7,700 seat belt and child restraint citations.

Officers made 41 drug arrests, nearly 30 alcohol-related arrests and 24 other felony arrests. More than 1,220 tickets were written for suspended licenses and uninsured motorists.
