DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket) The overwhelming narrative for the Detroit Pistons’ offseason so far has been that the power forward duo of Josh Smith and Greg Monroe will not work and that one of the two big men needs to be moved.
Monroe had been favored to be moved, as he is a restricted free agent who could presumably attract a max deal from other teams. Smith’s giant contract has also been considered to be unmovable. Mark Stein of ESPN tweeted Tuesday that the Pistons have had preliminary talks with the Sacramento Kings about moving Smith out to California.
Stein also listed a few potential candidates for the Pistons to look to receive in return for the veteran big man.
One thing is for sure, if the Pistons could find a suitor to take on Smith’s enormous contract after just one season, it would rival Dave Dombroski dumping Prince Fielder in Texas.
