Traffic Alert: 4th Of July Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - The long holiday weekend is finally here! Residents across the state are packing up the family and hitting the roads to celebrate Independence Day.

MDOT has lifted several traffic restrictions to accommodate the increased amount of travelers, although some work zones will remain in place.

The following construction activities are remaining in place, through the holiday, with some projects beginning on Monday. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

Construction remaining in place on Friday, July 4:

I-96:

Wayne County, is closed completely between Newburgh Road and US-24 (Telegraph Road). Also, I-96 express lanes/ramps closed between M-39 and US-24. Schoolcraft Road has one lane open between I-275 to US-24.

M-85 (Fort Street):

Wayne County, is closed completely between Oakwood Boulevard and Miller Road for bridge repair. One lane is open between Miller and Dearborn Street.

M-102 (Eight Mile Road):

Wayne County, has two lanes open between Lahser Road and Telegraph Road.

I-94/I-69:

St. Clair County, has one lane open in each direction between Range Road and Lapeer Road, with ramp closures. Michigan Road over I-94/I-69 is closed. Lapeer Road under I-94/I-69 has one lane closed.

M-53:

Macomb County, has two lanes open in each direction between 10 Mile Road to Chicago Road.

Parade Closures on Saturday, July 5:

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound M-15 (Ortonville Road) between Waldon Road and Miller Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday for a parade.

In St. Clair County, northbound and southbound M-29 (St. Clair River Drive) between State Street and Mill Street will be closed from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday for a parade.

Road Work Beginning Monday, July 7:

I-75:

In Wayne and Oakland Counties, northbound and southbound I-75 between I-375 and I-696 will have one lane closed daily from 9 a.m. Monday to 3 p.m. Friday, July 12 for utility work.

I-94:

In Wayne County, westbound I-94 ramp to Beaubien Street and I-94 ramp to Woodward Avenue will be closed from 9 a.m. Monday to 3 p.m. Wednesday for road work.

M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue):

In Macomb County, southbound M-53 from 17 Mile to 16 Mile roads will have two lanes closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday for road work.

M-59:

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound M-59 (Hall Road) between Hayes Road and Heidenreich Avenue will have moving lane closures from 9 a.m. Monday to 3 p.m. Tuesday for road work.

Local:

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-696 Service Drives will have one lane closed daily from Dequindre Road to M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) from 9 a.m. Monday to 3 p.m. Sunday for utility work.

In Oakland County, northbound Franklin Road will have one lane closed daily from US-24 (Telegraph Road) to Square Lake Road from 9 a.m. Monday to 3 p.m. Friday for utility work.

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) between Long Lake Road and Square Lake Road will have one lane closed daily from 9 a.m. Monday to 3 p.m. Friday 7/18/14 for road work.

In Oakland County, eastbound and westbound Grand River Avenue will have one lane closed daily between 10 Mile Road and Haynes Street for utility work.

In Wayne County, eastbound Jefferson Ramp to southbound M-10 will be closed from 7 a.m. Monday to 6 p.m. Sunday 8/3/2014 for roadwork.

In Wayne County, eastbound and westbound M-153 (Ford Road) between Lilley and Hix roads will have a lane closed daily from 9 a.m. Monday to 2 p.m. Thursday, 7/31/2014 for utility work.

In St. Clair County, northbound and southbound M-25 between Hancock and M-136 will have multiple lane closures from 8 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Wednesday for road work.
