US-23 SB Closed Near Michigan Avenue Following Fatal Car Collision

WASHTENAW COUNTY (WWJ) — US-23 southbound is closed near Michigan Avenue in Pittsfield Township following a crash that killed two people.

The two cars ended up in the southbound lanes of traffic right before the Michigan Ave./US-23 overpass.

Both directions were closed immediately following the accident. Cars are being forced to exit at Michigan Ave. and can re-enter the freeway following the scene.

Northbound US-23 was backed up to near Willis Rd, while southbound US-23 is backed up from about Plymouth Rd. to the accident scene.

Police are investigating as it’s not known what caused the crash or when the freeway will be re-opened.
