National Cherry Festival Runs Through July 12

TRAVERSE CITY (WWJ) - There's still time to register for the Festival of the Races at the National Cherry Festival. Festival of Race Director, Michelle Elliott says race day is Saturday and will follow a beautiful route.

"The half-marathon will actually start up on old mission peninsula," said Elliott. "They'll run through a cherry orchard, which is absolutely gorgeous, and then along the shores of West Grand Traverse Bay, and then all of the races will actually finish on the historic parade route on Front Street."

The runners finish on Front Street for the DTE Energy Cherry Royale Parade.

The festival runs July 5 - 12.  The website notes that each day festival goers can find a variety of cherry delights along with parades, family and kids events and entertainment. There are more than 150 events along the shores of Lake Michigan's Grand Traverse Bay.
