Automated Produce Delivery Machine Wins Red Bull Creation Contest

By Edward Cardenas

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - A machine that operates through a digital app to deliver produce was selected this weekend as the top invention built during the Red Bull Creation contest.

The contest, which pitted seven teams from across the country to build a product around the  theme "reinventing the wheel," was won by the Maker Twins from Phoenix.

"We're thrilled! This is a great venue, we love Detroit," said Mike Murray from the Maker Twins, in a release.

The teams spent 72 hours working at Recycle Here! in Detroit building their invention. Nearly 8,000 people filled Eastern Market Saturday to see the items revealed, which included "Grow Cycle" - an urban-styled farmer's market invention that delivers fresh produce made from used shipping pallets.

This was the first year the competition was held in Detroit, after being held in Brooklyn for the past three years.
