Dead Murder Suspect's Girlfriend Charged In Flight

FLINT (AP) — The girlfriend of a double murder suspect who died during a standoff and shootout with police in Flint has been charged with harboring a felon in her home.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton says 34-year-old April M. Abare also is charged with lying to police.

Leyton says the mother of three repeatedly denied hiding 22-year-old Daron R. Gaylor Jr. at her home.

A daylong standoff and shootout ended Wednesday when police used heavy equipment to tear into Abare's house and found Gaylor's body. Authorities haven't announced the cause of death.

Police were seeking Gaylor on two counts of first-degree murder and other charges for shootings June 2 and July 5.

Abare was arraigned Monday afternoon and ordered jailed on a $50,000 bond. She's expected to get a court-appointed lawyer.
