Uber Offering Ice Cream On Demand

By Edward Cardenas

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - The on-demand car service Uber is offering a "sweet" promotiong Friday by delivering cold treats on demand.

Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor are two of the locations worldwide where users of the service - which uses a smart-phone based app to allow users to order a ride between destinations and pay on-line - can order summer treats to be delivered via their smart phones.

The trucks will be delivering between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., and for $20 those ordering can get five treats from Michigan-based companies Eskimo Jacks or Treat Dreams.

To request the frozen treats, choose the ice cream option.  If a truck is available, the desserts will be delivered in minutes and the person ordering the ice cream will have their Uber account charged.

First time users can also use the promotion code IceCreamMI and get $20 off their first ride, and if they have never used Uber before, the discount can be applied towards the ice cream.
