Michigan Approves 9 Projects To Add 3,900 Jobs In The State

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan's economic development arm has approved nine projects expected to bring about 3,900 jobs to the state.

General Motors plans to create 1,750 jobs in Michigan by consolidating engineering jobs from elsewhere.

Auto supplier Challenge Mfg. will get $2.3 million in incentives to build a plant northwest of Lansing and create 420 jobs.

Solar company Suniva will receive $2.5 million in incentives for a new factory in Saginaw Township. It plans to create 350 jobs.

Another project approved Tuesday by the Michigan Strategic Fund will help YanFeng USA Automotive Trim Systems expand a Macomb County plant to create 519 jobs.

Gov. Rick Snyder says four projects stem from overseas trade trips he took to China, Italy and Canada. He says some companies chose Michigan over competing states in the South.
