Registration Opens For 'Battle Grounds' StarCraft Gaming Tournament In Detroit

(CBS Detroit) - Are you ready to test your video game skills against the best in the world?

Detroit joins Atlanta as one of the preliminary locations in the Red Bull Battle Grounds 2014 StarCraft II tournament.

$40 will get you in the competition.

Part of the ever growing electronic sports (eSports) world, the event starts at 8 a.m. on August 22 and runs through the 24th. The Garden Theater will be ground zero for the 128-player bracket.

The stakes are high with a $25,000 prize pool. Any player making it to the top 32 will get a share.

The five top players from the events in Detroit and Atlanta will go to the Grand Final in Washington, D.C. First place takes home $8,000 and paid travel to D.C.
