Many have tried and many have failed. Dunking from the free throw line is something I believe will always last in dunk contests. Dr. J did the inital dunk, which I believe was cool and all, but he was an entire foot over the free throw line. In 1984, that was amazing and no one else had done it.
Michael Jordan made the dunk even more impressive when he jumped from the free throw line, pumped the ball back once and appeared to just float in the air. I believe his wasn’t a true free throw line dunk either since he took a step over the line.
That now brings me to Shelby McEwen, who is in high school. This dude did the best free throw line dunk I have ever seen. He jumped with his foot clearly behind the line and I don’t know if I have ever been more impressed than I was when I saw what this kid did.
