The Toronto Blue Jays have lost their slugger Edwin Encarnacion to a quad injury, which takes quite a bit of power out of their lineup. That is, unless Melky Cabrera has anything to say about it.
Toronto blew out the Boston Red Sox on Monday night, 14-1 in Boston. The highlights came courtesy of Cabrera. In the first inning, Cabrera hit a two-run home run to right center field to get the scoring started.
With the Blue Jays up 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Cabrera walked up to the plate with runners at first and second. On a 0-1 count, Cabrera took the pitch to deep left field and over the Green Monster.
Not only did Cabrera’s ball clear the Green Monster, but it blew out the windshield of a car. It’s not very often you get to see this but in the words of Jim Price, “that’s a double wow.”
