WYOMING, Mich. (AP) - A medical examiner has found that a pregnant Michigan woman police say was killed by a man she connected with through Craigslist was strangled with a rope, strap or other device.

The Grand Rapids Press reported Wednesday that a death certificate on file at the Kent County clerk's office lists 18-year-old Brooke Slocum's cause of death as ligature strangulation.

Police in the Grand Rapids suburb of Wyoming say Slocum was strangled and her 25-year-old boyfriend, Charles Oppenneer, decapitated after apparently connecting with a stranger online for a sexual encounter. Oppenneer's head hasn't been found.

Slocum's body was discovered July 17 in the trunk of 31-year-old Brady Oestrike's car.

According to police, Oestrike fled as investigators tried to search his home. He fatally shot himself after crashing his car.
