Theft Foiled When Clerk Realizes Robber Has Airsoft Gun [VIDEO]

WATERFORD (WWJ) - An attempted robbery ends in frustration for thief sporting an airsoft gun.

Police in Waterford were called to the scene of a robbery at a gas station in Waterford on Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old clerk told police that the suspect came into the station just before closing with what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol and told him to "give me the till."

As the suspect got closer the clerk  identified the pistol as an air soft gun, not a real firearm and told the suspect to get out of the store - he wasn't going to get any money.

After a short exchange the frustrated thief left the store empty handed.

The suspect was identified as wearing a blue "Detroit Tigers" hooded sweatshirt, black running pants, white shoes and had a bandanna partially covering his face.

The suspect was also wearing thick framed brown colored glasses.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 50's, approximately 5'6" to 5'8" with a heavier build.
The incident remains under investigation.
