CBS DETROIT – Plenty of teams want Tampa Bay Rays starter David Price, and according to multiple reports, the Detroit Tigers are one of those teams. Less than an hour before the trade deadline, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports that the Tigers are the frontrunners for Price.
Price, one of the hottest names in trade talk this season, has a 3.11 ERA in 23 starts to date in 2014.
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale also listed the Tigers among the top contenders for Price.
Jon Morosi of Fox Sports and MLB.com’s Jason Beck both posted several tweets earlier in the day regarding possible player movement between the Tigers and the Rays.
The Tigers had been rumored to be close to a deal for left-handed reliever Andrew Miller, but Miller ended up going to Baltimore.
The MLB trade deadline is 4 p.m.
