ROMULUS (CBS Detroit) – Detroit Metropolitan Airport’s largest carrier is featuring the city of Detroit , and its resurgence, with a cover story about the city in its in-flight magazine.

The August edition of Delta Air Line’s Sky magazine features a cover photo of the Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera and a series of stories highlighting the city.

“After years of decline and neglect, we are witnessing the rise of a new city thanks to a combination of new leadership, entrepreneurship and old-fashioned grit and teamwork,” wrote Delta CEO Richard Anderson.

Delta, which operates nearly 500 departures to 137 destinations from its international hub at Metro, has also pledged $500,000 to the “Grand Bargain” to help the Detroit Institute of Arts and the city of Detroit.

The issue features a Q and A interviews with Gov. Rick Snyder and Mayor Mike Duggan; profiles of groups and individuals who are leading the city’s renaissance; and five different ways to experience the city’s cultural, dining and accommodations; and a profile of Miguel Cabrera.

Sky magazine is available on Delta’s flights, and online.
