Road Work Along Big Beaver Road, Surrounding Area Expected To Cause Delays

TROY (WWJ) - The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), expects to begin two concrete slab replacement projects on Big Beaver in Troy soon, that will result in lane closures on large sections of the road across the city. Additionally, Adams Road will be closed at Big Beaver.

The first project involves the section of Big Beaver from Rochester Road to Dequindre. Beginning Monday, Aug. 4, eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane from Rochester Road to Dequindre.

Then, eastbound lanes will open and westbound Big Beaver in the same section will be reduced to one lane for the same work. That work is tentatively expected to be completed by the end of September.

The second project, from Adams to Civic Center Drive (just east of I-75) is expected to begin approximately Aug. 13 and last until approximately Nov. 15. Throughout that project, there are expected to be lanes closed in both directions of this section of Big Beaver.

As part of the second project, Adams Road will be closed at Big Beaver as the Adams/Big Beaver intersection is reconstructed. The closure expected to start approximately Aug. 13 with Adams to be opened by the time school starts.

During the Adams closure, the detour route for Adams traffic will be Maple Road to Coolidge Highway to Wattles Road and back to Adams and vice versa.

Motorists should expect significant delays on both Big Beaver and Adams throughout these projects.
