Michigan Men’s Hoops To Host Ann Arbor Regional Of Legends Classic
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan men’s basketball team announced today (Wednesday, Aug. 6) the Wolverines will host the Ann Arbor Regional of the 2014 Legends Classic at Crisler Center before heading to Brooklyn, N.Y., for the championship round at the Barclays Center.
Michigan will host Bucknell on Monday, Nov. 17, and Detroit on Thursday, Nov. 20, as part of the Ann Arbor Regional. Times and television designations will be released at a later date. From there, the Wolverines will head to Brooklyn, N.Y., and the Barclays Center for the championship round. The trip to New York will mark the third straight year the Wolverines have competed at the Barclays Center.
U-M opens with a semifinal game on Monday, Nov. 24, against Oregon at 9 p.m. on ESPN3 followed by either the third-place or championship game on Tuesday, Nov. 25, against Villanova or VCU. The third-place game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start on ESPNU, with the championship game to follow at 10 p.m. on ESPN2.
The Wolverines played in the 2010 Legends Classic hosting Bowling Green (W, 69-50; Nov. 18) and Gardner-Webb (W, 80-58; Nov. 21) in an Ann Arbor Regional before moving on to Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. U-M lost to Syracuse (L, 53-50, Nov. 26) and UTEP (L, 65-56; Nov. 27) in the championship round.
Overall, Michigan is 2-0 all-time at the Barclays Center after playing neutral site games against West Virginia (W, 81-66; Dec. 15, 2012) and Stanford (W, 68-65; Dec. 21, 2013).
With the release of the Legend Classic opponents, U-M’s 12-game non-conference schedule is complete. The Big Ten schedule has yet to be announced as all dates, times and television designations are being finalized with the conference office.
