iPhone Buzz Beginning To Build Before The Big Reveal

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Websites and blogs are buzzing about a possible unveiling date for the next generation of Apple's smartphone, the iPhone 6.

Apple is not confirming any details, but according CNET the company will has scheduled a media event for Sept. 9. Analysts expect the company to release two iPhone 6 models with a 4.7 and 5.5 inch screen. The phones would then be available for the holiday season.

CNET reports that Apple's manufacturing partners are producing 70 - 80 million of the larger screen iPhones. Other rumors about the new phone include curved screens, a longer-life battery, fingerprint sensor and scratch-resistant screens.

Will it sort your laundry? Walk your dog?

Probably not. But MacRumors reports it will feature a faster and more efficient A8 chip.

"Apple acknowledged high consumer demand for phones with larger displays in one of its own internal presentations, and based on that evidence, it seems clear the company is planning to address the growing segment of market that desire bigger phones," the MacRumors website says.
