12-Year-Old In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Car While Riding Bike

DEARBORN (WWJ) – A 12-year-old Dearborn boy is in critical condition after being hit by a car while riding his bike in the middle of the night.

The accident happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday near Schaefer Road and Henson Avenue, just south of Warren Avenue.

Police said the boy was riding his bike across Schaefer when he was struck by a Chevrolet Malibu.

The 12-year old was taken to Children’s Hospital where he was last listed in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle, a Dearborn resident, was uninjured.

Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
