LANSING (AP) – The head of Michigan’s housing agency is stepping down after billing the state for expensive meals and travel.

Michigan State Housing Development Authority spokeswoman Katie Bach confirmed Friday that executive director Scott Woosley will resign. More details are expected later in the afternoon.

The Detroit Free Press reported Thursday that Woosley sought reimbursements for staying in hotels that cost $400 to $500 a night and traveling in a stretch limousine. The spending was uncovered by the Michigan Democratic Party in a records request.

After the newspaper’s report, Woosley said he would ask the state Treasury Department to review his expenses so he could write a personal check for any expenses that were inadvertently reimbursed.
