Man Pleads Guilty In Federal Child Porn Case

GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ/AP) - A 42-year-old man accused of helping set up a sexual encounter between a 12-year-old boy and a former radio show host has pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography.

Ronald Moser, of Battle Creek, entered the plea Tuesday in federal court in Grand Rapids. Moser and co-defendant John Balyo, 35, face sentencing in November.

Police say Moser took pornographic images of a 12-year-old boy at his Battle Creek home on June 5, the same day he was arrested. His cell phone contained 40 images of boys in various stages of undress, police said.

Moser also told police that Balyo took photos of the same boy, who he's known for about five years. According to reports, Balyo paid Moser to arrange meetings at a hotel where he could sexually assault the boy and photograph the encounters.

Balyo was a host at a Christian station in Grand Rapids until his arrest in June at a Christian music festival. He pleaded guilty last month in federal court to sexual exploitation and possessing child pornography. Balyo told a federal judge that he photographed sex acts with the boy at a hotel.

Balyo's June arrest was related to state charges of criminal sexual conduct. That case still is pending in Calhoun County.
