Harrison Township Couple’s Death Confirmed As Murder-Suicide

HARRISON TWP. (WWJ) – A man and woman were found fatally shot in what authorities say was a murder-suicide.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call around 3:44 p.m. Thursday from the woman’s daughter, who discovered the bodies at the Clinton Manor Apartments on Gordon Lane, near 16 Mile Road and I-94 in Harrison Township.

When deputies arrived on they scene, they found a 40-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

The sheriff’s office said Anne Goodell shot Troy Benjamin three times before turning the gun on herself.

Investigators said neighbors reported hearing gun shots at 3 a.m. Thursday, nearly 13 hours before the bodies were found, but did not call police. There were no signs of a break-in at the residence, where both victims lived, officials said.

An investigation is ongoing.
