Businesses Can Still Register For ITS World Congress Pitch Contest

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Entrepreneurs who have business ideas and new technology in the  fields of mobility, sustainability, and transportation safety can pitch their plans to investors at World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems this September in Detroit.

The conference, which is one of the world's largest transportation technology exhibition, attracts more than 10,000 business, government and research leaders to Detroit from Sept. 7-11.

During the conference, the top 10 start-ups whose applications are selected to take part in the competition will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to Raymond JamesFontinalis Partners and Econolite Group, Inc.

"One of the highlights of the World Congress is that we do an investors matching service," said Scott Belcher, president and CEO of ITS America. "The top 10 applications are going to get pitch opportunities before these companies, and likely a number of them will get funded by it."

In addition to pitching the new ideas, there will also be an entrepreneurs village where more than 20 young start-up companies will have an opportunity to showcase their businesses and speak with investors along with potential partners and clients.

The World Congress is held every three years in North America and showcases the latest transportation innovations and allows attendees to share ideas and strategies for modernizing transportation, according to organizers.

"This is the first time it will be in Detroit and is the best time," added Belcher. "We have an opportunity to show the rest of the world that North America is still the epicenter for transportation and automotive technology."
