'Hardcore Pawn' Stars Lend Hand To Build Habitat For Humanity Homes

DETROIT (WWJ) - Seven homes in seven days. Habitat for Humanity has started its "Blitz Build" in the city's Morningside community.

As WWJ's Sandra McNeill reports, they're getting some star power.

Les Gold, Seth and Ashley from TruTV's 'Hardcore Pawn' are putting in some muscle as part of the building blitz.

"I'm good at concrete mason, in real life, I've laid a lot of driveways ... I can finish a driveway like nobody's business," said Les.

Seth was quick to point out that Les' best attribute was telling people what to do!

Decked in style with full jewelry on, said he was coming from work. "I'm coming from work, so in case someone needs their diamond looked at, we have a jewelers loop, so it's not a problem," Les laughed.

"I'm always working, there's a lady there who wants to sell us her camera."

"I'm very impressed when I look through this neighborhood and see the wonderful housing for the people that really can't afford it, can now afford, it brings joy to us that we could help support this project," said Les.

Les Gold says he's good at laying concrete. So what it is his son Seth's expertise?

Seth says he's good at putting in light bulbs ... but will pitch in where ever help is needed.

About 2,000 people are volunteering including students and employees from General Motors. The homes will go to those in need and who agree to put in over 250 hours of work.
