DETROIT (WWJ) – Say good-bye to the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.

The college football game at Ford Field is history.

For years you could count on watching the game on ESPN on Boxing Day! The day after Christmas.

As Crain’s Business reports the fate of the Pizza Bowl was questionable since the Detroit Lions announced last year that they’ll host a new bowl matching Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conference teams at Ford Field in a six-year deal that begins this year.

The game began as the Motor City Bowl in 1997 and moved to Ford Field in 2002 from the Pontiac Silverdome.

The Lions-backed college game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Dec. 26, according to the NCAA’s official 2014 bowl lineup.
