Bosch Breaks Ground On Tech Center Expansion In Plymouth

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP (AP) — Gov. Rick Snyder has joined Robert Bosch executives to break ground for a $40 million expansion of the German company's suburban Detroit technical center, which serves the auto and other industries.

Monday's ceremony marks the start of the 220,500-square-foot expansion of the facility in Wayne County's Plymouth Township.

Bosch says it will nearly double the facility's size and bring up to 200 new jobs in the next three years. Snyder says in a statement that Bosch "is an advocate for preparing tomorrow's workforce through hands-on tech training."

Bosch says it expects to finish the expansion in November 2015. The technical center opened in 2007.

Robert Bosch GmbH is based in Stuttgart, Germany. It has about 280,000 employees worldwide, about 25,000 of them in North America.
