(WWJ) — According to multiple reports, Vice President Joe Biden will be visiting the Motor City for Detroit’s Labor Day Parade next Monday.

Reports from The Detroit Free Press and the Lansing State Journal say Biden will speak after the Labor Day Parade in Detroit at his second appearance in three years.

Biden has been to Detroit frequently throughout the last few years, as he also headlined a fundraiser for Michigan Democrats last April.

The parade and speeches are designed to celebrate the achievements of American workers.

The first Labor Day celebration — designated as the first Monday in September — occurred in 1882 in New York City. It became an official national holiday in 1884.
