ROCHESTER (CBS Detroit) – The Golden Grizzlies will take to the hardwood in the 2015-16 season on a newly designed court – and the public will have a say in the design.

Oakland University has three different designs for the floor at the athletics facility, and has opened voting for the three designs to the public.

All three designs have the Grizzlies logo at center court, Oakland on one side of the court and Golden Grizzlies on the other and the outline of the map of the state of Michigan.

But that is where most of the similarities end.

The classic court design features just the natural wood color of the floor, with the logo in a light black color. The contemporary court is outlined in black, with the logo in a colorful gold and black. A third option, the new school blacktop, has a hardwood outline with the court painted to look like a playground blacktop court.

The vote is part of a new marketing and branding campaign, according to the athletics department website, and voting will close Saturday, Jan. 31. Results will be announced at a Horizon League men’s basketball game in February.

Votes can be cast on the Oakland University athletics website.
