Scattered Thunderstorms In The Forecast For Labor Day Weekend
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) – When it comes to the weather this holiday weekend… “It’s kinda one of those good news, bad news situations.”
That’s according to CBS 62 Chief Meteorologist Jim Madaus, who says metro Detroiters should expect to see periods of rain and maybe some thunderstorms blow through over the next few days.
“But it won’t be a washout,” Madaus said. “There’s a chance of rain on Saturday, Sunday and Monday; but there will be plenty of time when it won’t be raining — especially on Labor Day.”
Madaus said Friday that there are two fronts headed our way. The first is a warm front that will trigger the scattered thunderstorms that are expected to hit southeast Michigan Saturday night. A cold front will move over the area on Sunday, but it won’t cool down daytime temperatures too much.
Madaus said the thunderstorms in the forecast Saturday through Monday may be severe, but will be “hit and miss,” likely not lasting all day.
We should see some sunshine; but as for how much, it’s still tough to tell, Madaus said, so it’ll be best to bring your umbrella wherever you go.
“The thing to keep in mind is the humidity is coming back… so expect it to be warm and humid, with highs up in the 80s all weekend,” Madaus added.
