Microsoft 'Fan Cave' Coming To Ford Field (VIDEO)

By Edward Cardenas

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - An underutilized section of the Ford Field concourse is undergoing a transformation from a storage area for condiments to an interactive "Fan Cave" featuring the latest in technology and products from Microsoft.

Microsoft, which became an NFL league partner this season, is working with the Lions to build the interactive area - complete with Microsoft products, gaming areas and Lions Fatheads -  in the area under stands on the second level of the north concourse of Ford Field which currently holds condiment kiosks.

"Instead of ketchup and mustard, it is going to be an interactive area with some great technology," said Mike Singer, who works with the corporate partnership department with the Detroit Lions.

Detroit, along with San Francisco, are the only two NFL stadiums in the league which will have these dedicated areas featuring Microsoft products.

The Fan Cave will also feature brand ambassadors who will be talking about the company's products and services including the Microsoft Surface Tablet and the XBox One. Singer added the Fan Cave will feature the Madden NFL 15 game on three kiosks.

Lions officials said this is the first of what will be many Fan Caves located on the north concourse for different brands and team partners to showcase their products and create unique areas throughout Ford Field.

"The goal is to really sell the whole concourse as a fan cave area," Singer said.
