Could Blood Type Determine Link To Memory Problems?

DETROIT (WWJ) - Could your blood type be a factor in whether or not you develop memory problems?

University of Vermont researchers have found people with blood type AB may be more likely to develop memory loss in later years than people with other blood types notes WWJ's Health Reporter Sean Lee.

AB is the least common blood type.

Only about 4 percent of Americans have AB blood.

This research was part of a larger study of more than 30,000 people followed for an average of about three and a half years.

According to the findings, people with AB blood were 82 percent more likely to develop the thinking and memory problems that can lead to dementia than people with other blood types.
