ALLEN PARK (CBS DETROIT) - Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell announced Thursday that tight end Joseph Fauria would not practice after suffering a non-football injury Wednesday night. As a result, Caldwell expects first-round pick Eric Ebron to have a larger role in the game plan Sunday against the New York Jets.

Caldwell said Fauria's injury happened at home.

"One of those innocent things, I guess around the house and ended up misstepping and twisting his ankle," Caldwell said. "He's being evaluated further in terms of MRIs and things of that nature."

A question about Ebron, who has been thrown to eight times in three games, prompted Caldwell to talk about Fauria's injury.

"The numbers have just changed in terms of the depth at that particular position," Caldwell said, "so you can anticipate that [Ebron]'s going to probably see a bit more because he'll take on Joe's role as well in terms of the particular personnel groupings that we'll use."
