Hoke On Differences Between Gardner, Morris: 'One's Left-Handed, One's Right-Handed'

CBS DETROIT - Michigan head coach Brady Hoke stayed mum Thursday on whether Devin Gardner or Shane Morris will start at quarterback for the Wolverines this week. Hoke's silence on the decision comes after a Monday statement that the team would announce the decision Tuesday. Obviously, that did not happen.

"We've got an idea who it's going to be, but we'll wait 'til Saturday," Hoke told Stoney, Bill and Sara of 97.1 The Ticket. "I think we needed to be fair to the whole process."

Gardner, a senior, threw two more interceptions Saturday against Utah. He now has more picks than touchdowns this season. Hoke disputed, however, any notion that Gardner has regressed.

"I don't know if that's all the way fair," Hoke said. "He's in a new system, and I think for all the guys it's been a learning process ... There's still  the little details. When you're playing up in the Big House and playing against another opponent, they give you a couple different looks you may not be ready for ... it's set us back a little bit."

Hoke said that Gardner and Morris, a sophomore, have similar skills at the position.

"I don't know if there's a difference when you look at that," Hoke said. "I think they can make every throw. I think they're both athletic. They can get out of trouble when they need to ... I know [wide receiver] Devin Funchess said one's left-handed, one's right-handed."
