Apple Reportedly To Release Gold iPad

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - While consumers continue to the snap up the newest versions of Apple's iPhones, the tech giant is reportedly set to unveil the next generation of iPads which will include a gold color option.

Bloomberg reported that Apple will add the gold option, along with the current silver and gray colors, to the 9.7 inch iPad Air. This would be similar to the color options for iPhones when Apple rolled out the iPhone 5c.

The announcement of the new iPads is expected to come later in October. This would be the first major introduction since 2013, the report stated, and may include a larger, 12.9-inch screen iPad.

The larger Apple tablet wouldn't be available until 2015, Bloomberg stated.

In addition to rolling out new iPads at the yet-to-be scheduled event, Apple is expected to announce the release of the latest Mac OS X update, USA Today reported.

Initial sales of the new, larger iPhone 6 smart phones was record-setting, with nearly 10 million devices sold. Despite some negative publicity about the new phones bending, Apple reported that only nine customers filed complaints about defective devices.
