HopCat Detroit Hiring For New Woodward Location

By Edward Cardenas

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) -The largest beer bar in Detroit is looking to hire staff before it opens later this year.

HopCat Detroit, which will occupy an 11,000-square-foot building in Midtown, is looking for bartenders, servers, cooks, hosts, bussers, dishwashers, and barbacks.

"A minimum of three years experience working in a high-volume restaurant is required for bartenders, servers, and cooks," HopCat wrote in a post on the bar's Facebook page.

A hiring center will open Thursday, Oct. 16, at 2990 W Grand Blvd, Suite 300 in Detroit. The bar will be accepting resumes and doing interviews for the next several weeks  from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday-Friday.

HopCat is in the midst of investing more than $3 million into a 100-year-old building at 4265 Woodward that is being renovated into a bar and entertainment venue that is expected to employ 100 and feature 130 taps.

On the second floor of the facility HopCat will feature the Huma Room, a music and entertainment venue that can hold up to 400 people and will feature 60 craft beers on draft and a full bar.

HopCat will open at 11 a.m.  on Dec. 13.

Among the opening weekend festivities include a world-record attempt by Bellaire-based Short's Brewing Company with a tap takeover of at least 101 different varieties of Short's beers. Also, the first 200 customers ages 21 and up in line prior to opening will receive a card good for a free order of HopCat's Crack Fries every week for a year.
